Tiny Dancer Live (TDL) is proud to announce the release of Ordinary Miracle | ہیرے موتی - an album exploring Pop, World, Dance and Folk music as it stands today in the experience of Pakistani artist, Natasha Humera Ejaz. Natasha is joined on the production of her debut album by Indian producer Rishabh Rajan and on the record itself by various artists. Namely Maria Fajardo (Spain), Slowspin, Nimra Gilani, Danish Khawaja, Zeeshan Ali, Mirande Shah (India), Moa Edmunds Guevara (Chille), Amazumi (Nepal), Samuel Sjostedt (Armenia), Yun Chen Tsai (China) and Maho Azuma (Japan).
Natasha & Rishabh started passing projects files back and forth in January of 2022, over time recording additional instrumentalists themselves or having collaborators send in final takes long distance, the production of Ordinary Miracle | ہیرے موتی has been directed and produced by the two entirely from opposite ends of the world.
“Natasha and I started working on this album a year ago remotely, her from Pakistan and me from the US. Over time, she started traveling for work which took her to Nepal and we have both ended up connecting with a lot of artists from around the world that had something cool to lay down for us on this album. It’s really added a multicultural vibe to the record. We had very much started out making a purely pop album but it’s definitely evolved into a pop, world, folk and dance music adventure.” (Rishabh Rajan)
This is not the first that Natasha and Rishabh have found themselves in the throes of trying to “make something cool” together. Natasha first collaborated with Rishabh while studying music production in a college in Malaysia back in 2012 where he was teaching.
“We were both big Bjork and Imogen Heap fans and he expressed interest in blending that vibe with Urdu lyrics as a personal curiosity and I got to writing. Our first EP ‘It Might Get Glitchy’ had 4-tracks and explored all that. Ordinary Miracle | ہیرے موتی has turned out to be phase two of that.” (Natasha Ejaz)
While the sound of the album is eclectic-pop, the themes explored in Natasha and her co-lyricists are of love, loss, joy, strength and life as an emotional rollercoaster experienced by them. There’s the fiery vulnerability of Heeray Moti that moves into the nod-to-90s-R&B-vibed Miracle making its way to the politically charged Give It Up To The News (also Natasha’s rap debut!) then landing at the cheeky, Berlin-inspired Cookie Jar. There’s a lot of twists and turns, some troughs, some rises but the album decidedly finishes at the quiet and thoughtful When I Took The Time.
“I wanted to throw a ‘feelings’ party. That’s what I was hoping to accomplish and I had some great help along the way and now I think there's at least one song for everyone on this record.”(Natasha Ejaz)
